Nestled on the edge of the Forest of Dean and close to the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this tranquil escape sleeps 20 people across seven comfortable bedrooms, one on the ground floor. There are five en suite bedrooms with large/extra large power showers, two of which have large baths (one rolltop) for those who like a relaxing soak. The remaining two bedrooms share a large separate bathroom with a spacious power shower.
Each of the generously proportioned living areas is elegantly finished with plenty of seating space where you can gather to discuss the days’ exciting activities, watch a good film or simply relax with a book. The long library/dining room is full of interesting reads, while the spacious drawing room, with its traditional open fire, is the perfect place to indulge in a pre-dinner aperitif.
A cosy den with large TV is provided for those who want to lounge after the day’s activities, while the conservatory provides additional space for relaxing and enjoying the views over the ever present river Severn.
Severn Lodge is also extremely well equipped, from two large TV’s in the drawing room and den to a kitchen that boasts three fan ovens/grills, a freezer, two fridges, a wine chiller and two dishwashers.
The exclusive lawns offer an idyllic spot for outdoor games. There are apples, pears, and plums growing in the orchard, all of which you can help yourself to when in season.
On balmy evenings, the terrace provides a perfect place to relax and enjoy a glass or two, whilst the outdoor kitchen and long tables are ideal for alfresco dining as the evening sun sets behind the high wall that shields the property from the outside world.

THINGS TO DO
Located on the edge of the Forest of Dean and close to the Welsh border, Severn Lodge is a luxury retreat offering both peace and tranquillity as well as a myriad of things to do nearby.
Within short driving distance, there is Puzzlewood which is reputed to have inspired JRR Tolkien’s Middle Earth – or just down the road in Lydney, there is the Forest of Dean Steam Railway, which regularly has visits from Thomas the Tank Engine. Kids can also enjoy a spot of painting at Paint on Me or play in the adventure playground at the old Tintern railway station.
The less energetic can visit Tintern Abbey and Chepstow Castle, both close by; visit the gardens at Lydney Park; go birdwatching at the RSPB Nagshead centre; or simply relax and enjoy a bit of pampering at the Garden Retreat.
The more energetic will also find plenty to do, from miles of cycle paths and walks that wend their way through the Forest, to canoeing and kayaking on the Wye or even tackling the challenges of Go Ape. For the more military-minded, Forest of Dean Paintballing and Airsoft offers a military-simulation game while there are several clay pigeon shooting ranges in the area.
For Golfers, the Championship course at St Pierre is only a few miles away.
Indeed, for those who want to explore the area, there is no shortage of places to visit and things to do.
